Urban Decay Cardiff - Naked Smoky Launch

It's fair to say I have been off the blog boil for far too long. Sometimes things just get in the way and unfortunately at the moment these things happen far to often... Despite the time lapse I am keen to tell you about another Urban Decay product launch and master class that I attended. 

This time it was for the Naked Smoky palette launch. 

If you've not tried the palette yet then you definitely need to give the girls and guys at the Urban Decay counter in Cardiff, Debenhams a shout as its one of my favourite palettes and some shades have quickly become my favourites. 

If you've not attended a master class here either it's definitely worth a try as you get to engage with all the make up artists, get great hints and tips and generally find out more about the products you're buying. 

The master classes are usually headed by the wonderful Haddie who is the account manager. 

I've just realised this was August 6th! So I am defo waaaay behind the curve. But in my defence I've used it a lot and I've had two holidays since then and this was the only palette I took away! 

Some of my favourite shades are:

Dirtysweet - the golden colour you can see in the shot above. 

Whiskey - a matte, warm reddish brown

Thirteen - a matte, pinky white. Great for highlighting. 

Obviously I indulged in more than just the palette that evening but one of the benefits of that was lots of goodies to try out. 

Over the last three years Urban Decay has rocketed to becoming my favourite cosmetics brand and the counters make overs are definitely ones I would recommend.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

I am, like many people constantly in search of the best concealer for me.

I have found that since my skin has improved in terms of blemishes the concealer that I need these days is more for my under eyes and highlighting instead of blemishes, but that said I am always drawn to anything that says complete coverage! Who wouldn't be!?
 

I am a big fan of the Urban Decay foundation, and the biggest draw is having a full coverage but with a weightless feel.

I have been using this concealer as a highlighter for contouring and also brightening my under eye. The coverage is great and is definitely full. 

It also does a great job of hiding blemishes, but I opted for a lighter shade so I don't tend to use it as much for that. 

I think this concealer definitely competes with Mac Pro Longwear, but the wand inside means I actually prefer it. 

It retails for £17.50 so it's in the same price bracket as Mac and comes in 8 different shades.

Urban Decay - Naked Flushed Palette

I will openly admit I'm an Urban Decay fanatic. More so now than ever before. 

I had the Urban Decay Flushed Palette in Streak for Christmas. 

I opted for this shade because firstly, I love a coral cheek and I also have the same shade in a lipgloss and lip liner. Complete the set and all that. ;-) 

So in the Flushed palette you get your classic blush shade, a highlighter and a bronzer which is great for contouring. 

Everything you need to perk up your cheeks. 

The packing is convenient but still classically Urban Decay. It also comes with a mirror so is super convenient for on the go. 

If anyone doesn't fancy buying all the bits individually this is a great idea. 

The cheek colour is matte in this palette but is very pigmented and you get a great colour from a little bit of product. 

It retails for £22.50 which I think is excellent value for money!

Urban Decay - Perversion Mascara

Want Bigger Blacker Badder lashes? Who doesn't right?

That's what Urban Decays new Perversion mascara promises to offer you. 

I've never tried any previous Urban Decay mascara's like Big Fatty for example but I have tried plenty of other mascara's in my time. 

What do I like about this one? 

Well I'm actually more fond of the brush style that this mascara offers. I prefer the classic style mascara brush as opposed to the plastic ones. I feel it gives a more natural look to lashes. 

The coverage from one coat is amazing and it doesn't clump or gather when you apply more coats. 

It also offers curl to your lashes without the need of an eyelash curler and it holds all day. 

Some mascara's can flake off on to this cheek but this doesn't do that. 

I also find it gets in to the inner corner of my lashes without any difficulty. 

Retailing at £17 it's a little cheaper than Benefits They're Real. 

I don't find that is has the same lengthening qualities as the Benefit one but overall application is nicer as I find the Benefit one can get sticky.

Urban Decay False Lashes - Lure

Following my recent visit to the Urban Decay counter in Cardiff. As well as having a lovely pamper and beautification from the ladies I thought I would tell you about my new favourite lashes.

Since purchasing the Lure lashes they have been my go to lashes for events and nights out - so far I'm in to my 5th or 6th wear and they are atill going strong. 

Rather than being full strip lashes these are corner lashes. The glue they come with is also totally amazing... They won't budge!

You will definately get your monies worth out of them.

Urban Decay Electric Palette Launch - Cardiff

Let me set the scene for you.... A beautiful sunny Good Friday afternoon in the fair city of Cardiff... In Tiger Tiger's champagne room.. An array of face charts, products and drinks laid out ready for us to enjoy the launch of Urban Decay's new Electric Palette.

After a few sips of my delicious mojito mocktail we were ready to get started. Urban Decay's key artist Haddie went about discussing how we were going to learn to achieve three different stages of looks with the new palette. Starting with a subtle day look... And ending with an intense colour explosion at the end! 

This palette contains 10 pressed pigments in the most amazing bold colours.

          

• FREAK - bright green with gold shift
• THRASH - bright lime green matte with floating gold pearl
• REVOLT - bright metallic silver shimmer with silver glitter
• GONZO - bright turquoise matte with floating tonal pearl
• SLOWBURN - bright red-orange matte with floating pearl
• SAVAGE - bright hot pink matte
• FRINGE - bright metallic teal
• CHAOS - bright blue matte with floating tonal pearl
• JILTED - bright metallic fuchsia with blue shift
• URBAN - bright metallic purple

And as these are pressed pigments the colour is much more vibrant than a normal shadow. 

Some colours are matte and some have a shimmer. 

So back to the masterclass.... As usual always apply your eye make up first, especially if you are using a heavy eye - you don't want drop out ruining your entire look and ALWAYS use an eyeshadow primer. I personally love the Urban Decay Primer Potion... And Urban Decay recommend you use the Eden primer for looks with the Electric Palette. 

The first look that was worked on was a simple pretty eye mixing shades from the Naked 3 palette in Strange, Darkside and Nooner mixed with Savage from this one. The result? An ultra pretty simple look showing that you don't need to go all out each time you use this palette. 

The next step was to introduce more colour and create a liveable look using the boldness of the palette. Again the idea is to mix in the shades from Naked 3 but this time Haddie used; Savage, Chaos, Freak and Thrash from this palette. At this stage matching 24/7 pencils in Freak and Chaos were applied along with a black liquid liner and Big Fatty mascara. 

(Sorry for the light in the pic, the sun was blaring through the window. Hopefully you can see well enough) 

Final step - all out colour chaos! Using additional Electric colours in; Gonzo, Slowburn, Jilted and Urban and also applying colour to the brows. Haddie went on to demonstrate how these colours can also be used as blush or if you are really bold - through the brows too. 

    

Haddie then completed the look using Urban Decay's Naked Skin range of products, lashes in "Babydoll" and applied the Jilted pigment mixed with Pore Perfection primer to create a paste suitable for lips - showing just how many uses this palette has away from the conventional eye make up. Finish with glitter and Voila! 

    

I also forget to mention.... The palette can also be used in the hair! Obviously it will work best on lighter shades but you can see in the picture above it has a great effect. 

This palette may seem shocking at first, but the master class opened my eyes to the other ways this palette can be used! 

The Electric Palette retails for £37. It's perfect for  the summer and any festival lover will love this palette.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation

While recently booking a place in to an Urban Decay electric palette master class I thought I would give the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation a little try. 

Coverage is always the first thing I think about when purchasing a foundation... So I asked for some advice from Ffi on the Urban Decay counter in Debenhams, Cardiff - Ffi advised that the coverage was amazing and that it used a blurring technology to smooth the appearance of imperfections. 

I didn't have time to try the foundation there and then, but the lovely ladies at Urban Decay will give you a 2 week sample of the foundation after you're colour matched. 

So off home I went with my sample, and I couldn't be more pleased. 

The consistency is light - unlike most foundations that offer a fuller coverage, this feels amazing and dewy on the skin.. A little goes a long way and is really blendable either with a brush or your finger. 

The coverage is also buildable depending on how much you like, so is suitable for everyone. 

The finish is a fresh faced look on the skin which is demi matte. Normally I am someone who usually prefers a matte look but this has me converted. 

Now there is a science to all this skin perfection so how does it work? Naked Skin uses optical blurring technology to blur your imperfections. It also loads skin with a list of nourishing ingredients including; green tea, Matrixyl 3000 (anti wrinkle) and a bunch of other stuff. 

The packaging is also sleek and sexy. I can only think of plus points for this foundation. So next time you are in Cardiff pop along to Urban Decay and try it out!
